A ketogenic diet for dogs may have other benefits. In a recent study of 21 epileptic dogs on a keto diet, seven had a 50% reduction in seizure frequency … and three of them became seizure-free.
For some people and some dogs, the adverse effects of a keto diet might include high cholesterol, weakness, and even heart disease.
An area that a low carb diet could be beneficial is with cancer.
